Penelope Cruz was nominated for Oustanding Supporting Performance for Michael Mann’s Ferrari, with a budget of $70 million. However, the list was still pretty indie and a number of high profile films did not submit, among them Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon and The Color Purple. The Gotham Film & Media Institute, announcing the shift last summer, said it was meant “to broaden our reach in terms of recognition and accessibility to the wider community.” The disappearance of the decade-old budget cap, which had been set most recently at $35 million, is the biggest change this year.
